I’m an industry generalist largely because I’ve had very broad exposure over time, but to the extent that I have an industry specialty, I’ve done a ton of work in:
- Healthcare, mostly on the provider side (Forrester Research once referred to me as “a god of claims processing” – no really, why would I lie about a thing like that?) but I had good success as the CTO of a company which offered software and services to hospitals and I’m currently building AI driven software for physician practices.
- Financial Services, most everywhere but investment banking.
- Commercial banking – I got my start as a CIO at a regional bank, and I helped author the XML specs for banking.
- Investments – I built a lot of Fidelity Investments core products, and I led the XML development for investments.
- Insurance – I was the CEO of a P&C insurance software company and led the development of that interoperability standard as well, and, of course, I was the CIO at Aetna.
- Software development, mostly on the process, product, and project management sides.
But I’ve worked extensively in CPG, manufacturing, digital services, and a bunch of other industries as well.
