For the last several years while at Fiserv, I was the President of Biller Solutions and subsequently led a Client Experience initiative as part of the GBS Senior Leadership Team. Prior to Fiserv, I was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where I was a leader in the Operations and Public Sector practices and served clients across a broad range of sectors including Manufacturing, Travel & Logistics, Hi-Tech, Healthcare, Energy, Defense, and Local and National Government on issues covering corporate strategy, lean manufacturing, performance transformation, supply chain, purchasing and supply management, leadership, ERP implementation, organizational design, post-merger management, and retail strategy.

Before retiring from McKinsey in 2017, I led Professional Development and Operations for the six locations which comprise the Firm’s Midwest region, guiding our people strategy across Professional Development, Training, Recruiting and HR.

I first joined McKinsey in 1998 upon my retirement from the U.S. Army, and after my election to partner, served as the Managing Partner in Cleveland and co-led the Manufacturing Practice prior to moving to Washington, D.C. in 2008 to support the growth of the Public Sector Practice.
I then left the Firm in 2012 and built two small consulting businesses; first as President and COO of a company focused on operations in the public sector and subsequently as General Manager of a manufacturing consultancy, which was featured in Consulting ® magazine’s 2015 list of fastest growing companies in the U.S.

My professional career started in the U.S. Army, with assignments to line command positions as an Armor Officer, to the Department of Social Sciences at the U.S. Military Academy where I served as an Associate Professor, and to Operations Billets in which I was charged with the development and implementation of strategy. My military experience includes deployment as a tank commander, combat operations in Somalia, and serving as Senior Military Assistant to the Vice President of the United States, with responsibility for Emergency Actions, entrusted with carrying “the Football.”

I am married to my college sweetheart Karen – one of the first women to graduate from West Point – and we are the proud parents of two beautiful and highly accomplished daughters. And I’ve recently been promoted to “G-Pa” by my three wonderful grandchildren.
