Felipe P Maciá

Felipe is the Founder and Managing Partner of Open Seas Advisory, where he specializes in guiding executives and companies across both revenue and cost optimization strategies. He is a impact-oriented problem solver and people leader who brings his energy and enthusiasm to tackle challenging situations and has a track record of building trust-based relationships across networks and sectors. Felipe is able to provide the contrarian thinking and outside perspective required to made impactful change along with a “get your hands dirty” attitude. With a bias for action and 15+ years in consulting, private equity, sales, and business operations, Felipe is known as the go-to person when things need to “get done.”

Felipe spent the bulk of his career helping found and operate an energy investment private equity fund focused on Latin America and Caribbean. During his time there, reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Directors, Felipe managed and participated in an array of responsibilities, from investor relations, fund operations, M&A and business development, legal due diligence, as well as managing both US-based offices, including human resources, benefits, accounting, and budgets. Most recently, Felipe spent 5 years with McKinsey & Company, specializing in large scale transformations where he and his teams would identify impact opportunities across the organizations, and develop business plans and detailed roadmaps for hundreds of unique initiatives, activating and coaching the workforce to imbed new ways of working in to their business as usual.

Felipe was exposed to a variety of industries (e.g., insurance, chemicals, B2B commercial appliances, trucking) and functions (e.g., strategy, operations, procurement, sales, corporate functions, portfolio assessment) during his time at McKinsey, finalizing initiatives worth >$300M of recurring impact across business lines. In addition to his “client hands,” Felipe was known as a distinctive people leader and sponsor to junior colleagues, priding himself on training and mentoring his teams, so much so that he partnered with McKinsey’s Learning Team to redevelop the entire curriculum for new joiners to ensure they were prepared for the rigors of McKinsey’s team-based projects.
