Consider investing in some branded gifts. Now, this is a really tough area. There’s so much swag out there that just comes across as super lame if you receive it. So it takes some thought and takes some judgment to come up with a branded gift that clients will actually appreciate.
Over the years, I’ve received lots of branded gifts. And some of them are pretty awful. You know, a really cheap water bottle that you would not really use for example.
But think about something that people will remember and appreciate and actually use and keep around. So I’ve given out, for example, some heavy-duty mugs that people have told me that they appreciate and kept on their desk and put coins in or used for their coffee every day.
Power banks, some chargers are pretty nice — people typically don’t throw those away. They might, you know, carry them around. They might lose it eventually. But while they haven’t lost it, they will appreciate it when their phone runs short and see your logo there. So think about something that people will actually appreciate and use.
You don’t want to get something that costs too much money because some clients might feel uncomfortable with that. They might have rules against accepting gifts that are more than, let’s say $25 … so not necessarily an essential to get your firm off the ground.
But it is nice if you have some small token of appreciation to hand to a client maybe after a meeting or at the end of a project just to say a small thank you.
