There’s a space between pure work and pure consumption that you could call play, or exploration, or simply messing around.
Activities in this space are driven by curiosity and (by definition) not compensated.
A lot of messing around that I’ve done hasn’t led to anything in particular (yet).
But, producing an album of music by my wife’s uncle Waldy Pedraza in Lima in 2012, jus for fun, got me exposed to audio equipment, which led me to start a podcast a few years later. And now I’ve published over 800 podcast episodes.
And organizing and teaching a workshop for Columbia Business School alums on independent consulting in 2010 (for free) led to the content library and events programming at Umbrex.
