I’ll admit that when I (or a member of the team here at Umbrex) makes a mistake, my first reaction is to get annoyed.
But then I take a breath and repeat our mantra: Never waste a good mistake.
Yes, of course we take whatever immediate corrective actions are called for.
But then we work to identify the root cause and come up with some preventive action that will keep us from making a similar mistake in the future.
Change the template.
Redesign the process.
Update the system.
Two things that don’t count as acceptable preventive actions: “pay more attention next time” or “try harder.” We aim to design systems and processes that will work even when a person is distracted, because someday someone will be.

You can buy any of my shirt designs, or even better, create your own, on Zazzle.
