Skills: While becoming the absolute best in your field is great, Scott Adams recommended becoming very good (top 25%) in two or more complementary skills.
Relationships: Make an effort to reconnect with your weak ties. Breakfast. Phone calls. Text messages. Look for opportunities to be helpful without asking for anything in return.
Knowledge: Know something that your peers don’t.
Physical location: You’ve either already captured or grown blind to the opportunities in your own neighborhood. Go across the world, or even across town.

Cate Hall has published this excerpt on increasing luck surface area from her upcoming book.
