Some time ago, we began making a list of business processes with snappy names, just for fun. 
 
Some use alliteration (“Procure to Pay”, “Quote to Cash”, “Record to Report”, “Contract to Close”). Some of them rhyme (“Hire to Retire”). 
 
You can find that list of processes below. If you know of one we missed, please let us know.

A process that describes the steps that occur between the final approval of a project and its actual release to the public. 

Acceptance to Payment

A process that describes the steps that occur between the acceptance of an order and the payment of that order. 

Activation to Support

A process that describes the steps that occur from the initial activation of a product or service to the ongoing support provided to customers.

Application to Approval

A process that describes the steps that occur between the initial application for a service or product and the final approval of that application. 

Audit to Compliance

A process that describes the steps that occur to ensure that an organization complies with relevant regulations, laws, and standards. 

Campaign to Conversion

A process that describes the steps involved in converting potential customers into actual customers through a marketing campaign.

Change Implementation to Validation

A process that describes the steps that occur when changes are made to an organization’s systems, processes, or policies. 

Change Request to Implementation

A process that involves making modifications to a project plan or product design after it has been approved and is in the implementation phase.

Concept to Commercialization

A process that describes the entire life cycle of a product, from the initial idea or concept to its launch and market entry.

Concept to Completion

A process that involves taking an idea or concept and turning it into a finished product or project.

Concept to Creation

A process that involves taking an idea or concept and turning it into a tangible product or service. 

Concept to Prototype

A process that involves taking an idea or concept and turning it into a physical or digital prototype.

Contract to Close

A process that describes the entire life cycle of a real estate transaction, from the moment a purchase contract is signed to the moment the transaction is closed and the property changes hands.

Customer Acquisition to Retention

A process that describes the entire customer lifecycle, from the moment a potential customer first becomes aware of a brand or product to the point where they become a loyal, repeat customer.

A process that describes the steps involved in responding to customer inquiries or questions. 

Delivery to Installation

A process that describes the steps involved in delivering a product or service to a customer and then installing or implementing it.

Deployment to Evaluation

A process that describes the steps involved in deploying a new system, software, or application and then evaluating its effectiveness.

Deployment to Maintenance

A process that describes the steps involved in deploying a new system, software, or application and then maintaining it over its lifecycle.

Design to Build

A process that involves taking a design concept and turning it into a physical product or structure.

Design to Delivery

A process that describes the steps involved in creating and delivering a product, service, or solution to a customer. 

Design to Prototype

A process that involves turning a design concept into a physical or digital prototype. 

Development to Testing

A process that involves taking a software or application from the development phase and testing it to ensure it meets the required standards and specifications.

Estimate to Invoice

A process that describes the steps involved in creating an estimate for a project or service and then turning that estimate into an invoice once the work is complete.

Evaluation to Closure

A process that describes the steps involved in evaluating a project or program and then bringing it to a close once it has been completed or terminated.

Forecast to Fulfill

A process that describes the steps involved in forecasting the demand for a product or service and then fulfilling that demand through production and delivery.

Hire to Retire

A process that describes the steps involved in managing an employee’s lifecycle within an organization, from the time of hiring to the time of retirement or separation from the company.

Idea to Launch

A process that describes the steps involved in taking an idea for a new product, service, or business and turning it into a reality by launching it in the market.

Idea to Patent

A process that describes the steps involved in taking an idea and obtaining a patent for it. 

Idea to Product

A process that describes the steps involved in taking an idea for a new product and turning it into a tangible product that can be sold in the market.

Incident to Resolution

A process that describes the steps involved in responding to and resolving an incident, such as an IT issue, a customer complaint, or a workplace accident.

Inspection to Acceptance

A process that describes the steps involved in inspecting a product or service to ensure it meets the required quality standards, and accepting it once it has been deemed satisfactory.

Installation to Activation

A process that describes the steps involved in installing and activating a new system or service, such as software, hardware, or a mobile application.

Lead to Close

A process that describes the steps involved in converting a lead, or a potential customer, into a paying customer through a series of interactions and engagements.

Maintenance to Retirement

A process that describes the steps involved in maintaining and eventually retiring a product or system, typically in the context of manufacturing or technology.

Opportunity to Order

A process that describes the steps involved in converting an opportunity, such as a potential sale or business deal, into an actual order for a product or service.

Opportunity to Quote

A process that describes the steps involved in creating a formal quote or proposal in response to an opportunity, such as a potential sale or business deal.

Opportunity to Revenue

A process that describes the steps involved in turning a potential business opportunity into actual revenue through sales or other business activities.

Order to Cash

A process that describes the steps involved in the entire lifecycle of a customer order, from order placement to payment receipt and reconciliation.

Order to Delivery

A process that describes the steps involved in fulfilling a customer order, from order placement to the delivery of the product or service.

Plan to Hire

A process that describes the steps involved in the hiring process, from identifying the need for a new position to onboarding the selected candidate.

Plan to Produce

A process that describes the steps involved in planning and executing the production of a product, from the initial planning phase to the final delivery of the product.

Plan to Profit

The process of creating a strategic plan for a business or organization that is designed to achieve specific financial goals and objectives. 

Procure to Pay

A process that involves the procurement of goods and services, from the initial request through to the payment of invoices.

Product to Market

A process that involves taking a product or service from the idea stage to the market, with the aim of generating revenue and profits. It is also referred to as “Product Launch” or “Go-to-Market” strategy.

Product to Distribution

A process that involves getting a product or service to the end-user through a distribution channel. 

Proposal to Approval

A process that involves the development and submission of a proposal to a potential customer or client, followed by the review and approval of the proposal.

Prospect to Customer

A process that involves converting a potential customer, also known as a prospect, into a paying customer.

Prospect to Proposal

A process that involves converting a potential customer, also known as a prospect, into a proposal or a quote. 

Prototype to Production

A process that involves taking a product from the prototype stage to the production stage.

Quote to Cash

A process that involves the complete cycle of a sales transaction, from the initial request for a quote to the receipt of payment for the goods or services provided.

Quote to Order

A process that involves converting a customer quote into a sales order. 

Receipt to Inspection

A process that involves the inspection of goods upon receipt from a supplier. 

Record to Archive

A process that involves the management of records from their creation to their eventual disposal or archival.

Record to Reconcile

A process that involves the comparison of two sets of financial records to ensure that they are consistent and accurate. 

Recruitment to Onboarding

A process that involves the hiring and integration of new employees into an organization. 

Release to Deployment

A process that involves the release of a software product or application to the market or the production environment.

Renewal to Retention

A process that involves renewing contracts or subscriptions with existing customers, and then retaining those customers over time. 

Request to Delivery

A process that involves fulfilling customer requests for products or services.

Request to Fulfillment

A process that involves fulfilling customer requests for products or services.

Requirement to Implementation

A process that involves translating customer requirements into a functional product or service.

A process that involves translating customer requirements into a product design or solution.

Research to Results

A process that involves conducting research to develop new products, services, or technologies and then translating that research into tangible results. 

Sales to Service

A process that involves the transition of a customer from the sales department to the service department. 

Service Request to Fulfillment

A process that involves fulfilling customer requests for service or support.

Source to Pay

A process that involves the management of a company’s procurement and payment activities. 

Testing to Acceptance

A process that involves the management of a company’s procurement and payment activities.

Testing to Release

A process that involves incorporating testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure that software products meet business requirements and are fit for release. 

Validation to Deployment

A a software development process that emphasizes validation and testing throughout the software development process, from the initial requirements gathering to the final deployment of the software product.

Visitor to Lead

A marketing and sales process that focuses on converting website visitors into potential customers, or leads.
