Review Synopsis
The Lords of Strategy: The Secret Intellectual History of the New Corporate is a different type of business book. For readers wanting more context for the modern business world and its origins, The Lords of Strategy is a well-written and organized history that highlights, the people, tools, schools of thought, and multi-decade development of modern strategy making. The author also challenges us to think about strategy’s real purpose and future.
While this book delivers great historical context, it won’t necessarily give you a quick boost on a current project, and it is not clear where it should fit into a new strategist development. StratThink still recommends this book, but probably after a few years of strategy practice and experience. At that point, this book will fill in a lot of the why behind some current and relevant dynamics.
