Karim Farhat announces his departure from a recent role as Chief Commercial Officer at EVCS and shares highlights from his time at the company.
Announcement: After two extraordinary years, I am announcing my departure from my role as Chief Commercial Officer at EVCS.
When I first joined EVCS, my goal was to build bridges with partners who match EVCS’ appetite for rapid growth and continuous innovation. A few short months later, I was entrusted to join the executive team as Chief Commercial Officer, finding myself on the helm of the consumer business for one of the fastest growing public EV charging networks in the US. In this new role, I oversaw EVCS’ charging products to customers, strategic partnerships, customer support, data analytics, marketing, and policy. I was fortunate to work with an exceptionally talented team, and together we have achieved major milestones that accelerated EVCS success. Highlights:
📈 Value creation: 200-350% YoY growth in energy dispensed, charging sessions, new user registrations, and revenue; 25-40% YoY reduction in COGS and overhead; and a concrete pathway to profitability.
🔌Product: An all-new mobile app with continuously improving features; and 15+ customized charging products and subscriptions for customers and partners.
🌐 Roaming: A pioneering strategy for CPOs, encompassing direct and hub-based roaming engagements. With Noodoe’s support, I’m proud that EVCS was the first North American CPO to join Hubject roaming hub, in addition to building new roaming connections with ChargeHub, Presto, Chargeway, & others.
🤝 Strategic partnerships: 12+ new flagship programs, including with Hertz, Lyft, and Presto for rideshare drivers and fleets.
🏛 Public policy: Strong advocacy for market-based & cost-effective approach to interoperability, reliability, roaming, and smart-charging.
📢 Marketing: 2-3x expansion of social media presence and across public forums, so EVCS voice can now reach all of you!
🎆 But perhaps my favorite was my first decision as CCO to rename the department to “NUCS” (read “nukes”; Network Utilization & Customer Solutions). The new name needed to embody the new mission: focused, impactful, and daring transformation that is anchored in one core principle: *Customers*Always*Come*First*. From ideation to design to execution to daily operations, every offering to the EV driver, no matter how big or small, should always yield a seamless charging experience.
