Jessica Olofsson shares an update on her process as a first-time fantasy author.
Well hello everyone!
😁 I’m well overdue for an update so here’s how things are going:
🔹 I’ve written 700+ pages of my debut fantasy novel.
🔹 I’ve created a beautiful, logically sound magic system — complete with clearly cataloged consultant-style assumptions.
🔹 I’ve built a continent of seven nations, each with its own culture, history, leadership, language, political factions, and religious philosophies (plural, of course).
🔹 I’ve spent hours pacing through NYC dictating plot twists into my phone.
🔹 I’ve outlined so many plot lines, conspiracies and character arcs that they now live permanently on the walls and windows of my (not exactly palatial) apartment.
🔹 I’ve developed wrist cramps from hours of typing — and existential crises from the depths of my characters’ psyches.
And I’ve loved every minute of it.❤️
🚨 I’m on track to finish the novel by November (sanity TBD) — but in the meantime, I’m opening up availability for select part-time strategic advisory work (2–3 days/week)!🚨
After 8+ years at Bain, Samsung, and Google, I now work independently with clients on projects related to growth, performance improvement, and business transformation.
