Heitor Chaves is a junior at Northeastern University, Class of 2028, majoring in Civil Engineering with a strong interest in construction management, structural engineering, transportation, and management consulting. Originally from Brazil and raised in Miami, he is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
During the summer of 2026, he completed a concrete design course at Northeastern while beginning a full-time co-op with Barletta Heavy Division, a heavy civil general contractor in Boston, where he will continue through December. The experience has deepened his interest in how large infrastructure projects are planned, sequenced, and delivered in the field.
After graduation, Heitor plans to pursue professional licensure by taking the FE and PE exams while continuing to explore where engineering and business strategy intersect. Outside the classroom, he is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and enjoys scuba diving.
