Time axis paired with themed bands (e.g., Product, Market, Capability) to show how initiatives ladder to strategy.
1 Slide Type Name
Strategic Roadmap Timeline
2 One‑Sentence Purpose Statement
Shows “how each strategic theme unfolds over time” so leaders can see whether initiatives across product, market, and capability tracks converge on the long‑term vision.
3 Visual Description (Designer Instructions)
- Use a 16 × 9 slide with a clean white background.
- Draw a single horizontal time axis across the upper third; mark consistent intervals (quarters or half‑years) with thin tick lines and labels.
- Beneath the axis, create three to five horizontal “themed” bands of equal height—e.g., Product, Market Expansion, Technology & Data, People & Culture. Tint each band with a subtle pastel shade for easy differentiation without visual noise.
- Within each band, place initiative blocks (rounded rectangles) at their respective start dates; size the block to represent duration. Write the initiative title inside the block in 9 pt bold.
- If an initiative culminates in a milestone, place a small diamond at the end of its block and label it just above the diamond.
- Align all initiative blocks to an invisible grid so the ends line up cleanly under the time ticks. Maintain generous horizontal spacing between blocks to prevent crowding.
- Optionally draw light dependency arrows between blocks in different bands to illustrate cross‑theme hand‑offs (keep arrows thin, 1 pt, gray).
- Reserve the bottom 15 % of the slide for a color‑key legend that maps band colors to strategic themes and shows symbol meanings (e.g., milestone diamond). Position the legend flush left or right so it never overlaps content.
- Leave ample white space above the time axis for a concise strategic headline or KPI call‑outs. Use a sans‑serif font and a single corporate accent color for emphasis (e.g., initiative outlines or milestones).
