Very long time horizons broken into labeled eras (e.g., “Founding,” “Growth,” “Digital”), each era band color-coded; useful for corporate history slides.
1 Slide Type Name
Historical Era Timeline
2 One‑Sentence Purpose Statement
Summarises “how our story unfolds across distinct eras” by grouping decades of events into colour‑coded historical phases.
3 Visual Description (Designer Instructions)
- Use a 16 × 9 slide with a single, full‑width horizontal bar that spans the entire time horizon (often 10–150 years).
- Divide the bar into broad, labelled era bands (e.g., Founding 1965‑1980 • Regional Expansion 1981‑1999 • Digital Transformation 2000‑Present).
- Tint each era with a unique, muted colour from the brand palette and place the era name and year range in 12 pt bold, centred inside the band.
- Milestone cluster: Below (or above) the bar, drop vertical leader lines from notable events into compact call‑out boxes. Space these milestones proportionally within each era band so that earlier events sit to the left, later to the right.
- Optional: place a faint vertical “Today” line at the current year and shade the right‑most era band more lightly if it is still in progress.
- Keep the slide largely horizontal for easy scanning; resist over‑crowding—no more than 6‑8 eras and 12‑15 milestones total.
- Reserve the top 15 % of the slide for the headline and optional legend (explaining colour coding or milestone icons). Ensure margins ≥ 0.5 in so labels never touch slide edges.
- Fonts: sans‑serif; era labels 12 pt bold, milestone text 9 pt; headline 16 pt bold.
