Description of the Tool
Scalar AI is a consulting-grade slide-generation engine that lives natively inside PowerPoint as an add-in. Built specifically for consultants, it produces client-ready slides end to end: the user gives a prompt and Scalar does the research, analysis, structure, and visualization, returning a finished, editable PowerPoint slide with its data sources. It can build a single slide, a full deck, or a slide from pasted text or a photographed sketch, and every output stays fully editable natively in PowerPoint.

Pricing conventions:
Scalar is priced per seat by monthly subscription, sold to companies and organizations rather than individuals.
- Around $350 per seat per month, which includes a generous monthly slide allowance (on the order of 250 slides per month; the counter shows slides remaining because each generation consumes LLM tokens that Scalar pays for).
- A significant discount is available for annual subscriptions, and special pricing can be arranged for members of a partner organization or syndicate.
Detailed description of each function of Scalar:
Scalar runs inside PowerPoint. The right-hand panel offers a Slide or Deck choice, a Mode selector, and a Style selector, plus a box to describe the presentation and the option to attach a file (for example, uploading a company’s financials so Scalar can compare them against publicly listed competitors’ data from the web). Consultants are encouraged to think in units of slides, which is the most common and effective use case.
1. AI Gen (prompt to slide)
Describe the slide in a prompt and Scalar builds it. In the demo, the prompt “benchmark the top five countries by international visitors” produced, in under two minutes, a polished slide titled “France retains global tourism crown with 100 million annual visitors…,” with a ranked bar chart of France, Spain, US, Italy, and Turkey, country flags added automatically, year-on-year growth rates, a “magnet city” callout (Paris, 44M of France’s 100M) with a strategic insight, and a cited data source. A Fast option is available for quicker (slightly lower-fidelity) generation alongside the standard mode.
2. Text to Slide
Paste in any text (from a website, an LLM, an expert-interview transcript, meeting minutes, or explicit slide instructions) and Scalar structures and visualizes it into a slide. In the demo, a long block of Google/Gemini text on post-merger integration in banking became a clean four-box slide titled “Banking PMI success hinges on rigorous execution across leadership, early planning, culture, and technology alignment,” with numbered boxes, chosen icons, parallel verb-led wording, and a McKinsey Financial Services source. This is especially useful for turning transcripts or research notes into deck-ready slides.
3. Sketch to Slide
Photograph a hand-drawn or whiteboard sketch (or upload any image, JPEG/PNG/PDF, including an image generated by another AI tool) and Scalar recreates it as a finished PowerPoint slide.
4. Deck mode and storyline
Scalar can generate an entire deck from a single prompt (a “ghost deck”), but the founder’s recommended approach for consultants is the storyline option: the consultant writes the storyline (one description per slide), then hands it to Scalar to build, which yields a far more deterministic, on-narrative result than an open prompt (which, being creative, can produce different decks each time). In the demo, a generic prompt for a customer-retention diagnostic ghost deck for a B2B information-services firm produced several strong, on-topic slides with usable frameworks.
5. Custom brand identity
For each firm, Scalar creates a custom brand identity so slides match house style. The firm’s background template comes from its PowerPoint slide master, and the colors (boxes, fonts) are configured once via RGB codes from the firm’s palette, along with the preferred box types and headline styles. Set up once, it is applied to every generated slide.
6. Data visualization
Scalar generates data-driven charts (including Think-cell-style visuals) as part of a slide, and can incorporate uploaded data (e.g., an Excel of a client’s financials) and calibrate it against publicly available web data for benchmarking.
Data and security: Scalar uses enterprise LLMs under agreements that prevent training on customer data. It does not store the user’s slides; the only thing it receives is the prompt, and it generates code that runs on the client’s own device to build the slide locally, so Scalar never sees the finished slide. It operates a zero-data-retention policy: data is encrypted at rest, prompts and file uploads are discharged on a periodic cycle (roughly every 24 to 48 hours), NDAs and client audit rights are standard, and only anonymized usage data (error logs, token counts, uptime, generation time) is retained to improve the product. Scalar is GDPR-aligned and SOC 2 certified, with trusted-environment and custom deployment options for government and high-security clients.
Additional features: Scalar also provides a large library of best-practice consulting templates, a prompting guide, video tutorials, and prompting trainings for the employees of companies that sign up. The training data behind its slide quality is more than 10,000 public-domain consulting documents, used to learn slide structure and analytical approach rather than content.
