PowerPoint creation and design, data visualization/chart generation

Description of the Tool

Decky AI is a PowerPoint add-in designed for consultants and other professionals who build data-heavy presentations. Users work through a chat interface directly inside PowerPoint, where they can generate new slides, edit existing slides, import information from Excel, PDFs, Word documents and images, run web research, and apply formatting instructions in natural language. Decky is designed around consulting presentation conventions such as action titles, clear storylines, source citations and adherence to the client or firm slide master. Its distinguishing approach is to ground slides in the underlying source material while keeping charts, tables and other slide elements native and editable in PowerPoint.

Ideal User

Decky AI is aimed primarily at management consultants, investment bankers, private equity and corporate strategy professionals who spend substantial time creating and revising PowerPoint presentations. It is particularly useful for users who already perform their analysis in Excel, Word, PDFs or other source files and need to convert that work into a polished deck quickly. The tool is also suited to consulting teams that must follow firm or client templates, reuse standard slides across engagements, and maintain consistent citation, number-formatting, tone and style conventions. The current product is a native PowerPoint desktop add-in for Windows and macOS.

Detailed description of each function of Decky AI:

Decky runs as a chat-based assistant inside PowerPoint. A user can start from an existing deck, a blank presentation, or external source material, then instruct the agent to create, edit, research or format slides while remaining inside the PowerPoint desktop application.

1. Slide and deck generation from source documents

Users can upload source files such as Word documents, Excel workbooks, PDFs and images and ask Decky to turn the material into a new slide or an entire deck. During the demo, Decky read both a quarterly report PDF and an Excel workbook, explored the underlying data, and generated a five-slide performance-review deck. The system created a title slide, executive-summary content, charts and tables while grounding the slides in the uploaded material. The current product can also start from a topic, bullet-point outline or rough notes when no source document is available.

2. Excel data and native PowerPoint charts

Decky can read Excel workbooks, including the sheets and data contained within them, and use that information to create charts and tables in PowerPoint. Charts and tables remain native PowerPoint objects rather than being inserted as flat images in order to allow users to edit them freely.

3. Web research and source-backed slides

When users do not already have the needed information, Decky can research a topic from within PowerPoint and use the findings to create slides. In the demo, Maximilian asked Decky to add a slide based on deep research into professional-services maturity benchmarks. Decky searched the web, surfaced the sources it had found, and created a new slide based on that research. Users can open source previews and, through controls, decide which sources are allowed to feed into the slide. Additionally, Decky can connect to company knowledge sources such as SharePoint, Google Drive and internal wikis and can place citations and source footnotes directly onto slides.

4. Natural-language slide editing

Users can edit existing slides simply by describing the desired change in the chat. The tool can rewrite headlines, restyle content, realign slide elements, change formatting and make broader structural revisions without the user manually navigating PowerPoint menus. During the demo, Maximilian changed the color of a text box with natural language prompting.

5. Template and slide-master adherence

Decky reads the PowerPoint master and uses its fonts, colors, layout rules and visual hierarchy when generating or editing slides. This is particularly relevant for consultants who must use a client or firm template. The tool is designed to keep newly generated slides consistent with the presentation already open rather than imposing a fixed Decky design. The current product also checks alignment, typography, spacing and color hierarchy against the deck style as it works.

6. Style guides and persistent preferences

Beyond what can be stored in a PowerPoint master, Decky lets users define style rules for areas such as citation format, number formatting, date formatting, language, tone and punctuation. Users can also choose a professional role, such as consulting or investment banking, so the system can tailor its outputs to that workflow.

7. Slide Library and reusable team assets

A user can save a strong slide to Decky’s Slide Library for reuse in future presentations. Decky analyzes the slide, assigns descriptive tags and stores its layout, content and branding. Saved slides can later be inserted into another deck and adapted to the active presentation master. For enterprise teams, the library can be shared across the organization so standard slides do not need to be rebuilt for each engagement.

8. Automated content and formatting checks

The current product can review slides for spelling, grammar, awkward phrasing, formatting inconsistencies, number and unit formatting, tone, citations and references. This extends Decky beyond slide generation into presentation quality control. Users can review issues individually or apply corrections across a presentation.

9. Fast and Smart modes

Decky offers two agent modes. Fast mode is intended for quicker slide edits and straightforward tasks, while Smart mode uses more reasoning and is positioned for more complex or creative slide generation. Smart mode consumes approximately twice as many credits per slide created or edited as Fast mode.

Data and security: Decky AI states that customer slides, uploaded documents and client-related content are never used to train AI models. Its enterprise offering provides zero data retention, regional processing in either the EU or US, Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on and role-based access controls. The company says enterprise processing can be kept within EU infrastructure in Frankfurt or US infrastructure in Virginia, using Microsoft Azure and AWS, with no cross-region transfers. Slides saved intentionally to the Slide Library are stored privately in an EU-hosted backend and can be deleted by the user. The public site also states that the product is GDPR-native and CCPA-compliant.
