Description of the Tool
AlphaSense is an AI-powered market and enterprise intelligence platform that combines a large library of premium business information with search and research tools designed for professional analysis. The platform brings together company filings, earnings calls, broker and independent research, expert interview transcripts, news and trade publications, financial data, and certain internal content. Users can search this material directly or ask business questions in natural language, with AlphaSense retrieving, comparing, and synthesizing relevant evidence with citations. Its newer AI tools can also conduct longer multi-step research, analyze large groups of documents in a table, and automate recurring research workflows.
Ideal User
AlphaSense is built for professionals who need reliable, source-backed business and financial research, particularly management consultants, investment professionals, corporate strategy and development teams, market intelligence groups, and other research-heavy functions. Independent consultants and boutique consulting firms are a particularly relevant use case because the platform gives a small team access to many of the information sources and research capabilities used by larger firms. A consultant can use AlphaSense to get up to speed on an unfamiliar industry, prepare for a client meeting, benchmark competitors, investigate market trends, support commercial due diligence, identify business-development signals, and search expert perspectives without assembling the information manually from multiple databases and websites.
Pricing conventions:
AlphaSense does not publish fixed dollar pricing. Its current website describes flexible annual subscriptions ranging from per-seat arrangements to enterprise-wide packages, with pricing determined through the sales team. During the July 2025 Unleashed interview, Brian Stollery described the core structure as an all-you-can-use annual price per user, with lower per-user economics at larger license volumes and customized arrangements available for boutique firms.
- Market Intelligence: custom annual pricing. Provides access to AlphaSense’s external market-intelligence content, including company documents, broker and independent research, expert transcripts, news, regulatory content, and the platform’s AI research tools.
- Enterprise Intelligence: custom annual pricing. Adds the ability to connect and search an organization’s internal content alongside AlphaSense’s external library, with enterprise IT, security, professional-services, and deployment options.
The company offers both per-seat and broader enterprise subscription structures rather than charging by search, page, or individual research project.
Detailed description of each function of AlphaSense:
AlphaSense is designed as a unified research environment rather than a single-purpose chatbot. Users can begin from a dashboard, a conventional document search, or a natural-language research question and then move between source documents, AI-generated analysis, structured comparisons, monitoring tools, and internal knowledge. In the Unleashed demonstration, Brian Stollery used a consumer-technology dashboard, document search, Generative Search, Deep Research, and Generative Grid to show how a consultant could move from monitoring an industry to producing a detailed competitive-intelligence view.
1. Dashboards, watchlists, and ongoing monitoring
AlphaSense dashboards provide a customizable, real-time view of the companies, sectors, and research themes a user follows. Widgets can surface expert insights, broker research, news, risk signals, company events, growth and investment themes, and executive or talent movements. Users can build watchlists, save searches, and set alerts so the same information streams update automatically. In the podcast demo, selecting a company such as Adobe or Airbnb repopulated the dashboard with research and developments relevant to that company, making the dashboard useful both for daily market monitoring and for identifying potential business-development or diligence triggers.
2. Premium content library and document search
The core of AlphaSense is its searchable content library. It aggregates company filings and disclosures, earnings and event transcripts, broker and independent research, expert interviews, market news, trade publications, regulatory information, and other business sources. The current platform indexes more than 500 million documents, including research from 1,000+ sell-side and independent firms and a large proprietary expert-transcript library. Users can conduct keyword or Boolean searches, narrow results by company, watchlist, source type, or date, and use AI summaries to review large result sets. AlphaSense emphasizes that the content is licensed or directly sourced rather than simply scraped from the open web.
3. Generative Search
Generative Search lets the user ask a business or financial question in natural language and receive a synthesized answer grounded in AlphaSense’s content library. The system retrieves relevant documents, reasons across both qualitative and quantitative information, and returns source-linked answers that can be checked against the original material. In the demonstration, Brian asked AlphaSense to compare the 2025 performance of McKinsey, Bain, and BCG across revenue, talent, hiring, and growth areas. The system broke the question into sub-questions, searched thousands of documents, and produced a structured response with sentence-level citations to expert calls, company materials, research reports, and other sources.
4. Deep Research
Deep Research is the longer-form research mode within AlphaSense. Instead of producing a quick answer, the AI creates a multi-step research plan, runs repeated searches across the platform’s content, evaluates large numbers of potentially relevant sources, and synthesizes the findings into a more comprehensive report. AlphaSense positions the feature for tasks such as industry primers, competitive landscapes, acquisition research, diligence, and meeting preparation. In the podcast example, Brian used the tool to prepare for a meeting with a consulting firm and to create a competitive-intelligence report covering service offerings, engagement models, pricing structures, sector specialization, partnerships, and technology investments.
5. Expert Insights
AlphaSense includes a proprietary library of transcribed expert calls with former employees, customers, suppliers, competitors, executives, and other industry participants. These transcripts can be searched and analyzed alongside the rest of the content library, giving users access to qualitative perspectives that may not appear in public filings or news. During the 2025 interview, Brian said the platform contained more than 200,000 pre-recorded expert calls and was adding roughly 5,000 per month; the current website describes a library of more than 260,000 interviews. For consultants, this is particularly useful for quickly understanding how operators and industry participants view a market before conducting additional primary research.
6. Generative Grid
Generative Grid is an AI-powered table for applying multiple research questions across many documents at once. Each row can represent a document, company, transcript, or other research item, while columns contain prompts that extract or summarize the same information consistently across the set. Users can pull in AlphaSense content, saved searches, uploaded files, and connected internal sources, then export the results as structured data. In the podcast demo, Brian used Generative Grid to analyze executive compensation and performance measures across target companies, showing how consultants could connect strategic initiatives and value drivers to metrics such as EBITDA, free cash flow, revenue growth, and human-capital objectives.
7. Enterprise Intelligence and internal knowledge search
Enterprise Intelligence extends AlphaSense beyond external market research by connecting an organization’s own documents and knowledge sources. Internal reports, meeting notes, presentations, memos, files, and other proprietary materials can be searched and analyzed alongside AlphaSense’s external content. This allows a team to ask one question across both its institutional knowledge and the broader market rather than switching between separate systems. AlphaSense states that internal customer content is logically isolated and not used to train its models, and enterprise deployment options include customer-managed encryption keys, customer-controlled storage, and private-cloud configurations.
8. Financial data and comparative analysis
AlphaSense combines qualitative research with structured financial information, including company financials, KPIs, valuation metrics, transaction data, funding rounds, and screening tools. Generative Search can use this structured information together with filings, broker research, expert calls, and other narrative sources, allowing users to ask questions that require both numbers and context. This makes the platform useful for company benchmarking, market assessment, transaction screening, and explaining why a financial metric or market trend is changing rather than simply retrieving the number itself.
9. Workflow automation and research outputs
The current AlphaSense platform includes workflow tools for recurring research tasks such as company primers, meeting preparation, earnings analysis, and other repeatable deliverables. AI-generated Smart Summaries condense earnings calls and other long documents, while workflow agents can run standardized research processes across AlphaSense’s content. The platform also supports work products such as reports, tables, and presentations, with PowerPoint and Excel integrations for continuing the analysis in the applications where professional teams already work.
