Umbrex is pleased to welcome Henry Tung with Alex Russell LLC. Henry Tung, MD MBA had 10 years of clinical medicine experience as an anesthesiologist prior to returning to school to Kellogg Graduate School of Management to earn an MBA. Post MBA, he consulted for McKinsey & Co. in their medical device, pharma and provider and payer practices before being recruited to industry. Positions included senior executive roles with responsibilities in strategy, business development, commercial leadership and general management in roles both internationally and domestic.

Henry has significant deal experience including sourcing, assessments, deal structuring, negotiation, due diligence and integration. Deals include corporate venture capital investments, supply and distribution, licensing, strategic alliances and M&A. He has also lead and rapidly grown small to medium sized business units for multiple multi-national companies. Recently Henry has worked for a regional non-profit helping to start a primary care service to integrate with existing disability and mental health service to provide integrated care for the Medicaid population.

Dr. Tung has three grown children and resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife. He is happy to collaborate on projects that leverages his extensive medical and business expertise and leadership skills.

Umbrex is pleased to welcome John Long with Satoe Solutions.  Jack Long was a consultant at McKinsey focusing on leadership development, organizational transformation, and strategic planning.  Following that he as an executive at IDEMIA where he lead integration and transformation, strategic planning, and value creation efforts.  Prior to McKinsey, he was an Innovation Fellow at Oxford University leading teams building startups based on University IP.  Jack holds a PhD in nanoengineering from Johns Hopkins and spent 8 years on active duty in the Marine Corps, and is currently a Reservist at the Office of Naval Research focusing on AI/ML.  He lives in Washington, DC and is happy to collaborate on projects in North America.

Umbrex is pleased to welcome Pablo Craievich. Pablo has over 20 years of experience in senior management roles in strategy (McKinsey&Co and ANZ) and in business management, integration and turnaround across a number of industries (e.g. banking, education, retail, telecom and professional services). Throughout his career, Pablo developed strategies to tackle complex industry issues and led businesses going through significant transformation or complex market environments.

Pablo is based in Melbourne, Australia and is happy to collaborate in projects across Australia and Asia-Pacific.

While most companies have been focusing on lean, Dan Markovitz explains why they should stop talking about lean and move towards a more practical approach.

 

Lean advocates—and I consider myself one—might do better if they stop talking about lean.

Let’s face it: When executives and workers hear “lean,” not a lot of good happens. They think it’s yet another short-term management fad. Or a cost-cutting program that will lead to layoffs. Or some Japanese thing that only works for car manufacturers.

But when you look at many of the tools and concepts from the lean playbook, they’re really just good management that any leader would want to embrace.
