Welcoming New Member Nils Tarnow
Umbrex is pleased to welcome Nils Tarnow with Valorion. Dr. Tarnow has extensive top management consulting experience in many industry sectors, from manufacturing to financial services, and on a wide range of topics, from business strategy to organizational development in different geographies around the world. Through his academic background, work with his client and with several start-ups he is particularly interested in the topic of innovation management.
Dr. Tarnow started his career at McKinsey & Company, where he worked in the Hamburg, the Tokyo and the Sao Paulo Offices. Later he joined The Boston Consulting Group in Brazil, where he became Managing Director and Partner. Before returning to consulting, he also held senior executive positions at Banco Santander in Brazil and at Usiminas, a Brazilian steel and mining conglomerate, where his responsibilities included strategic planning, business development and the implementation of large organizational transformations.
Dr. Tarnow holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University, where he briefly worked as a lecturer and as a student member of the university’s Academic Council on Research. Additionally, he earned a M.S. from U.C. Berkeley and graduated as Diplom Ingenieur from Leibniz Universtät in Hanover, Germany. He also served as a Lieutenant of the Reserve in the German Army.
