Umbrex is pleased to welcome Austin Riggs. Austin describes his practice :

I am a strategy consultant with over 10 years strategy and operations experience. In addition to my expertise in growth strategy, M&A, and strategic planning, I have deep experience in new business launches and social innovation. My industry expertise covers financial services, technology, entertainment and consumer electronics. I am especially passionate about sustainability and mission-driven businesses. With professional experience in the USA, UK, South Africa, and Jordan, I excel in adapting to new cultures and managing teams across a variety of working environments.

Before becoming an independent consultant, I was the Senior Director of Strategy at Better, a mortgage finance and technology company. There I built and ran a strategy team responsible for company-wide planning, M&A, and organizational development. I led the diligence, execution, and integration of the company’s first two acquisitions – UK-based financial technology companies. Prior to Better, I was the Director of R&D at the International Rescue Committee. In this role, I launched a social innovation lab whose mission was to improve refugee programs by combining social science research, design, and technology. There I built a team of 30 FTE, raised $125 million, and launched over 15 early and mid-stage innovation projects. I was also a consultant at Bain & Company in the New York and South Africa offices. My client work focused on growth strategy, private equity, and M&A for financial services and technology companies.

Having launched multiple teams and institutions within organizations, I excel in taking projects and initiatives from concept to reality, and coordinating complex projects across cross-functional teams. I am a passionate builder of teams, and enjoys working with junior employees to build their skills and confidence. I also have applied experience in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policy, and have founded and led employee resource groups.

I have an MBA from NYU Stern, and an undergraduate degree in theater from UCLA.
